Andy and Aisling have been performing together for almost a decade. There is a subtleness and a strength in their playing where they blend the old with the new, mostly exploring the realm of folk and world music. Acoustic guitar and harp add an earthy and organic element to the sound while the use of pedals brings an ethereal and contemporary element to the overall sound.

Aisling Urwin is a harper-songwriter-teacher from Kenmare. With a background in Irish Traditional Music, Aisling strives to paint the harp in new colours, challenging traditional views in an effort to stretch people’s preconceptions of what the harp should sound like.

Aisling’s music combines the organic sounds of lever harp and natural vocals with rich electronic sounds and textures.

A UCC Music graduate, she has been composing and performing full time since receiving her degree.

Aisling also has a keen interest in the use of music in a therapeutic sense and has been involved in music and meditation sessions for the past few years.

Her 2018 album, ‘The Dragonfly Jig,’ is a gentle and meditative body of work and combines Traditional Irish pieces with contemporary arrangements.

In 2018, she began touring internationally with World Music artist, Ajeet. This creative friendship led to the formation of Woven Kin, a dew duo project between Aisling and Siobhán Moore (AKA Ajeet) featuring harmony-centric melodies and folk instruments such as harp, bodhrán, bouzouki and mandolin. Andy Yelen is also featured throughout the album on guitar. Woven Kin’s debut album, ‘Hibernate,’ is out now.

Andy Yelen is a guitarist from Kenmare. Energetic and dynamic, Andy’s style is a unique mix of expressive finger style and vibrant rhythmic strumming. Stemming from a large pool of musical influences ranging from North American Jazz and Blues to contemporary Irish Traditional Music, Andy’s use of acoustic guitar for percussion, harmony and melody has become his trademark.

Having played guitar for twenty years, Andy spent five of them studying music in Brighton Institute of Modern Music and DIT (BIMM Dublin), where he received a Diploma and BA, focusing on performance, composition and arrangement.

Playing up to 200 shows a year in Ireland and Mainland Europe in venues such as Cyprus avenue (Cork), The Duncairn (Belfast) and De Ripe Cathedral (Netherlands), Andy has made a successful career from backing many musicians and with his band, Strange Weather, who Aisling is also part of.

Over the past year, Andy has focused his attention to the studio, most notably Woven Kin’s 2021 album, ‘Hibernate’ featuring Aisling Urwin and Siobhán Moore (Ajeet). Currently, Andy is in the process of recording his own debut album of original compositions with the hope of releasing in 2022.
