Carnegie Arts Theatre with the kind permission of series producers, Animo TV, are delighted to screen episodes 1 & 2 of “Falling for a Dancer”.  The series was filmed on the Beara Peninsula and Kenmare . Based on a novel by Deidre Purcell and the series was first shown on BBC1 in September 1998.

Set in 1930s Cork, nineteen-year-old Elizabeth has a brief fling with a young actor and dancer and becomes pregnant. With no chance of finding the father, and trying to avoid entering the Madalene Laundry , Elizabeth’s parents push Elizabeth to marry an older man who she first meets on her wedding day and moves to her new life on the Beara Peninsula.
