Writing for Children & Teens (for adult writers)
Critiquing Workshop facilitated by John W. Sexton
This three-and-a-half-hour workshop will look at writing brought in by the participants, and will offer practical editorial advice for those interested in writing for the Children’s and Teen (Young Adult) market. The emphasis will be on fiction and longer narrative poems. In order to ensure that all participants receive considered and useful feedback, the workshop will be limited to eight places. The first thirty or so minutes will be devoted to a practical overview of what publishers expect in a manuscript.
John W. Sexton is a highly experienced children’s writer and created and wrote the children’s science fiction comedy drama The Ivory Tower for RTÉ radio, which ran to over one hundred half-hour episodes from 1999 to 2002, and gained a cult following amongst both children and adults. His novels based on this series, The Johnny Coffin Diaries and Johnny Coffin School-Dazed are both published by The O’Brien Press.
