Fectac Level 6 Exhibition.

Participating artists.

Fiachra Crowley is a local artist who has rediscovered a childhood love for art, craft, and design in recent years. Fiachra creates pieces using a number of media and methods including ceramics, sewing, batik, and knitting. The goal of a lot of Fiachra’s work is to use structure and chaos in juxtaposition to create a visually stimulating aesthetic. Detail is vital to this process, and every aspect of each work is meticulously considered. With the Level 6 art course complete, Fiachra has set up a workshop for himself, and aims to become a working artist in the future.

Judy Geoghegan hobby potter and crafts person. I like to experiment and challenge the rules within ceramics to see the new outcomes I can achieve and new things I can learn. I began with hand-building at the end of 2012, progressing to the wheel in 2016. I discovered Batik in 2014 while studying a L3 Art and Design course but didn't fall in love with it until I studied it in a Level 5 Art course in 2015/16. I enjoy painting and drawing. I love to paint with oils, acrylics and watercolour. At the moment oils are the most inspiring for me; they are challenging and I have a lot to learn.

Agata Lipianin – theatre anthropologist from Poland. Enchanted by the beauty of Kerry and its people, she declared Kenmare her home several years ago. Since then she found new passion in ceramics and batik. Currently she is establishing her own art studio in Kenmare and she is looking forward to more artistic thrills and discoveries in the days to come.

Noreen O Shea The rural landscape where I live is a big influence on my art. The bogs, mountains, woodlands, farms and coastlands are what I explore through realistic, macro and abstract images. As humans we are part of nature. By connecting to the natural world through close observation and awareness we can feel united with our natural surroundings. I hope that when people view my work it leaves them with a desire to look more closely at the natural world.

Marisa Pedrosa. Marisa’s work reflects her love for texture, colour and detail. Drawing inspiration from the natural surroundings abounding in South Kerry; her chosen home, her work combines found objects and materials using mixed media techniques. The element of chance is an integral part of her creative practice; she attempts to encounter and glimpse a moment; captured. A reminder that all matter is in essence, ethereal.

Rosemary Purcell, landscape artist and ceramicist takes the inspiration for her work from her natural environment as she tries to capture the colour palette and changing light of South Kerry. In her ceramic work she uses the clay as her canvas creating miniature landscapes using a selection of glazes to give the earthy tones Rosemary has lived and worked in Kenmare for 30 years and runs The Purcell Gallery in the town Rosemary Purcell This email address is being protected from spambots. Catrina Walker, originally from England, has lived in Kenmare for 25 years and has always been drawn to art and craft. Currently she is an Art and Craft Facilitator at the newly opened Kenmare Craft Workshop and enjoys working with the youth of the greater Kenmare area.
