Sometimes Always Never

Director: Carl Hunter

Cast: Bill Nighy, Sam Riley, Alice Lowe, Tim McInnerny, Jenny Agutter

Alan, a stylish tailor and Scrabble enthusiast, has spent years searching for his missing son Michael who stormed out following an argument over a game of Scrabble. When a body turns up matching Michaels description, Alan must repair the relationship with his youngest son Peter to help reunite the family.

Peter feels second best and is less than amused when Alan invites himself to stay in the home he shares with wife Sue and shy teenage son Jack. Curiously, Alan's unwanted presence kindles Jack's self-awakening. Meanwhile, Alan becomes convinced that his missing son is attempting to re-establish contact….

An off-beat gentle dramedy, Sometimes Always Never is eccentric and charming, reminiscent of the films of Aki Kaurismäki (Le Havre).
