The Songs of Joni Mitchell with Clare O'Mahony

Following on from her recent sold out performances at The Everyman Palace, Cork singer songwriter Clare O'Mahony pays tribute to one of her favourite songwriters, Joni Mitchell. The Songs of Joni Mitchell will feature songs from Joni Mitchell's earlier albums (Clouds, Ladies of the Canyon) right through and up to her more recent recordings including the stunning A Case of You. Classics such as Chelsea Morning, You Turn Me On, I’m a Radio, Chinese Café, and Woodstock, to name just a few, will be performed.

Having taken a break from songwriting and performing, Clare returns with a brand new album backed by a fantastic new band. Clare's new album, Make Your Move, is based around melodic, "catchy" pop-folk tunes and features Mick Flannery on piano, Hugh Dillon on electric guitar, Tom Madden on acoustic guitar as well as the engineering skills of Bernard Quinn, (Villagers, Cathy Davey, Magic Numbers).

Clare is an Irish singer songwriter from Ballygarvan, Cork. Clare was always interested in music and played piano as a young child, starting at just 4 years of age! Clare's musical interest lessened during her teenage years, however her interest was re-kindled in her late teens and early twenties with the discovery of the likes of Irish songwriter, Sinead Lohan as well as Tracy Chapman and Joni Mitchell that really peaked Clare's interest in songwriting and playing guitar. Having completed endless hours of practice playing along with these songwriters, Clare recorded herself into an old cassette player, and played it for a friend. It was only then that Clare discovered her unique voice, which has been likened to Joan Baez.

Clare, a graduate of the renowned Music, Management and Sound course at Cork's Colaiste Stiofain Naofa, began to pen her own songs while learning about songwriting, and performance. Clare's debut album, Secret World, was well received and included two songs produced by Declan Sinnott. Clare went on to share the stage with James Blunt, Ron Hynes (Sonny's Dream) as well as performing her own shows throughout Ireland. Clare has performed across parts of Canada including Toronto, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick as well as New York and Chicago.
