Boatmen by Danny Long
Danny has always been interested in Art and took it as a subject in Secondary School. Having paused the subject due to work and family commitments, he again renewed his participation in the early “noughties” under the expert tutelage of local artist and teacher Maureen O’Shea (Fine Art and Print Making: Crawford, Dip. In Art Teaching: Limerick). He also attended other art training including FETAC courses. His primary medium is that of oil. He is open to many subjects, but most paintings in this exhibition portray the human face or figure. Whilst he has exhibited before as part of a group this is his first major exhibition. He has also completed numerous commissions for family and friends. His painting of the well-known singer/musician Mr. Sean Garvey is on permanent display in Crowley’s bar, Kenmare. Now retired from his former career he has more time to dedicate to his love of painting.
Flowers by Mary Mayhew
I was always interested in Art as a child and I did Art for my Leaving Certificate. Even though it was dropped from the curriculum, my teacher, Nora Finnegan helped me prepare for the exam in her own time.I have always been artistic, studying as a hairdresser. I was always hoping at some point to go back to Art. I have completed several Art courses locally over the past number of years which has ultimately led me to hosting my first Art Exhibition here at The Carnegie Arts Centre. I hope you enjoy viewing my work and I welcome feedback.
