Music- 'Suspension' with Kenmare Musicians

Saturday 21st April -  8pm
Tickets €18/€15

'Suspension' - A Journey through musical genres with Kenmare's finest

This concert, entitled 'Suspension', will feature four classically-trained performers; singer Grace Foley, harpist Tara Viscardi, pianist Kieran Finnegan and violinist Harry O Connor.

If you love music and enjoy and mix of musical genres and styles then this is the concert for you. All four of these performers have a background in Classical Music but also have a love for other styles of music. These performers have something very interesting in common; they have all won Killarney Rotary's Young Musician of the Year! This evening of music will include music by a diverse list of composers including Ennio Morricone, Bizet, Glen Hansard and Lana Del Ray.
Grace Foley is a member of the Crowley family of Dunkerron and, with her cousins owning Crowley's pub, it isn't hard to see that music runs in her family! Grace studied at the RIAM and has performed extensively throughout Ireland and on both local and national radio and television. Tara Viscardi attended Pobalscoil Inbhear Sceine where she was very much part of the wonderful music department directed by Veronica Whitehead. She credits a lot of her success to her upbringing on the beautiful Beara Peninsula. Kieran Finnegan of 'Finnegan's Jewellers' began his studies at the age of nine in Kenmare with Frederick Biesma and went on the study for a degree and masters at the Cork School of Music. Harry O Connor's family is originally from Dublin but they moved to Kenmare when Harry was just 6 years old. Harry's family also have Killarney connections so Kerry blood runs in his veins!

Music- Orlaith Keane Live

Saturday May 5th 8pm
Tickets: €18/€15

Orlaith Keane in Concert

The members of the Keane family are the most naturalistic singers in the world; Orlaith Keane is just that and she certainly has the Keane gene. Being daughter to Matt and niece to Sean and Dolores has certainly been an influence on her, but Orlaith is carving out a niche for herself that defines her as an artist in her own right. Growing up in Caherlistrane surrounded by the aforementioned and her grand-aunts, Sarah and Rita, was like growing up in an ongoing masterclass of singing and performance. “Masterclass” might be too formal a word to use though, as music is more like a way of life to Orlaith and the rest of the Keane family.

As you might expect, Orlaith began singing at an early age but it wasn't until Matt asked her to put a track on his first album, “Out in the Fields”, that she began to take her singing more seriously. After these first tentative steps into recording and performance, and with a very positive response from both critics and listeners alike, Orlaith again collaborated with Matt on his second album, “Pictures in Time”. This time though, Orlaith had much more of a role to play by adding 7 tracks to the album. Unsurprisingly this album gained high praise and brought Orlaith more into the limelight. Following the release of this album Orlaith and Matt performed regularly together in concert around the country and still do when the opportunity arises.

Orlaith released her debut solo album, “The Home Place”, early in 2011 and followed this with a number of successful launches and played support to De Dannan at the Galway Arts Festival in July.
